The New CC

Welcome to the new CC.com!

I’ve spent the past week or so really thinking hard about my blog and what I want it to be. I’ve consulted with my close friends and a few bloggers whom I admire, and this is what we have come up with. It’s simple, it’s clean, and it represents what I want to portray. It isn’t a wild departure from what the blog looked like before, but it’s enough to mark a clean start.

I’ve gone back and forth about what to call my blog; to the point where I (understandably) think a few of my confidantes would have strangled me if given the opportunity. I’ve considered the cutesy names, the edgy names, the catchy names…I’ve tried so many variations of my own name that my head is spinning with new nicknames for myself. There are so many options, yet I kept coming back to my plain ol’ name: Carly Clydesdale. It may be a bit lengthy, but the alliteration is catchy enough for me, and while it isn’t cute or sassy or clever, it’s me; and that’s what’s most important here.

It can be hard to start a blog when you’ve spent so many years reading other people’s work. I have this subconscious idea of what I like in a blog in my mind, and it’s easy to try and emulate that. Lately I’ve started to branch out from what I know (i.e. what is popular on YouTube or blogs) and post about whatever I really want. That still may be classic “favourites” or fashion posts, but hopefully every once in a while I can write something meaningful or different. And that’s all I want!

So welcome back. Apologies to my 1.5 fans (lol) for not posting this week. I’ve been buried in changing host servers and reformatting all of my old posts. Hopefully I can get back to a schedule of posting 3 (or more) times per week, and really dive head first into this! I’m still in the process of some nitpicky style changes, but nothing too drastic; I was excited to get this site live!

Thank you so much for being a part of my blogging adventures. Thanks to my friends and family for helping me make decisions (since we all know I can’t make them for myself), and thanks to my sister Nikki for taking these rad pictures for me by the lake. I wanted some fun photos to start off my new layout, and here are some of my favourites.

I hope all of my Canadian friends had a lovely Canada Day, and Happy (almost) 4th of July to all you Americans! Anyone else……Happy Wednesday!
